Dedicated to the Youth of the World II

 The focus of the film is the Cxema party and the attending youth on the morning of the event. The space of Dovzhenko’s film studio is transformed into a dancefloor; a synchronized crowd, spot-lit and flooded with arrhythmic, synthetic sound by Stanislav Tolkachev.     

The camera moves away and approaches, creating a sense of romantic exaltation and at the same time a modern alienation. This is the place and meeting that the youth of Kyiv are waiting and preparing for; this particular escape from everyday life, rejection of it, evokes strange feelings of modern ritual. The film ends with portraits, faces after utopia. The characters of the film are not ready to accept the new day and its old reality.

Roman Khimei and Yarema Malashchuk are an artistic duo collaborating at the edge of visual art and cinema since 2013. Through their films and video installations, they explore the image of the crowd, as a separate character in history and culture which they use to talk about rights and freedoms, communities and hope.
