The Garden Society of Gothenburg
The Palm House has been inaugurated in 1878 in The Garden Society of Gothenburg, one of the best-preserved 19th century parks in Europe.
The Palm House building, in cast iron and glass, was designed to resemble Crystal Palace in London (built initally to accommodate the Great Exhibition of 1851, a world fair of industry and culture, with 14,000 exhibitors). With a surface of approx. 1000 sqm, the Palm House building in Gothenburg gained status of architectural monument in 1976 and is home to almost a hundred plant species.
