Direct Action Theater – Serve and protect

Direct Action Theatre’s ongoing series Serve and Protect works with riot police uniforms as primarily visual and symbolic material. By placing these uniforms in absurd or unusual situations, they playfully question the status quo of power as an institution or entity. The reversal of the symbolic meaning changes the perspectives of what the police could instead represent. Performative actions aimed at supporting the current social, political or environmental movements, protests and causes. D.A.T curates burning questions in support of precisely those who truly want to “serve and protect” people, nature and beauty.
