C-print presents Sensual Politics, Stars Around Scars
The exhibition borrows its title words from Taylor Swift’s music and is intended already in this election to signal a departure from the conceptual frameworks that have come to characterize the biennials of the 21st century. If biennales in terms of content contain political discourses about trauma, injustice and worldly issues, this exhibition is available as a supposedly necessary “free zone” and a temporary breather away from the even collective pains that surround everyday life. Instead, the “I” is at the center of events; his bodily and sensual affairs, memories and desires. Here, the building blocks have been sets of humour, popular culture and zeitgeist as well as nostalgia from recent times.
